Toy Storage ShelvesWith a little creativity and some basic tools you can build some very nice toy storage shelves.Bins, baskets and drawers are great, but toy storage shelves are even better. They're easy to organise, a perfect way to display your child's favourite toys and encourage them to keep a tidy room. Teddy bears, books and trucks are most suitable to store in shelving. This beginners project is simply a long "box" with a low front and high sides. You will need: Bottom: 1 piece of 1.5" x 5.5" timber cut to desired length. Front: Same as bottom. Sides: 2 pieces of 1.5 x 5.5" cut to 5.5". 1. Front: Jigsaw a concave curve along the length with the lowest point of 1.5" at the centre. 2. Assembly: Nail sides to bottom and then attach the front. Alternatively, you can use woodwork glue. Sand all rough edges, seal and stain or paint. 3. Mount with brackets or use invisible mountings. Be sure to fasten all toy storage shelves securely as little ones may want to climb them! Place toy storage shelves within kids-reach, or up high to display precious keepsakes or special toys. With some creativity, a jigsaw and basic painting skills, you can create some fun fronts for this shelving. Try castle walls, crashing waves or your little one's favourite animal.
