The main issue, as is always true with any crown molding project, is getting the angle cut just right. Building a shelf is actually much easier than installing crown molding in a room, however, because you can make the cuts a true ninety degree angle and they will be perfect. Whereas, in your home, the angle is rarely a true ninety degrees. When mounting to the wall, make sure you plan your hardware choices well. Think about what you will be placing on the shelf and what kind of weight that will entail. Be diligent about finding wall studs when placing the shelf and use a level to ensure a nice visual effect. Larger shelves, or multiple shelves, will require planning and measuring. If you do not take the time to get a large unit centered, the appearance will be off and your efforts will be underappreciated. Multiple shelves should be arranged in an appealing display, make sure you do not over do, crown molding is a bold statement and speaks volumes in just a few pieces. Crown molding shelf plans can be an easy project, but, when done with care, make an eloquent addition to your space. Take your time and then enjoy them for all they are worth.
