If you are planning on installing your own maple crown molding, be sure to get familiar with the process before you begin.  Make sure you put your finish on before you install.  If will be easier to stain your wood on a workhorse than after it is up on the wall.  There will be some minor finishing after install, but you really do not want to be trying to stain it while it is hanging eight or ten feet off the floor.
