Bead Board BathroomSome thoughts about aesthectics and functionality of a Bead Board Bathroom
The Farm House Look - Achieved with Bead Board
A common usage for bead board is as a wainscot. Once painted, beadboard serves as a barrier between your walls and everything that would conspire to damage them, like chairs and children. Beadboard can also be used for pure aesthetics. It looks great as a floor to ceiling paneling, and with a little planning is also easily installed. The most likely places to put beadboard for fuctionality are areas that get a lot of traffic, such as hallways and dining rooms or areas that need to be easily wiped down like bathrooms or kitchens.
Bead Board in a Bathroom Serves Two Purposes
A bathroom has both high traffic and rather frequent splashing of liquid onto walls. A bathroom is a great place to ad bead board either as a wainscot or as a full wall covering. You may even find that you love the look so much that you'll decide to add bead board to the ceiling as well! The gaps in the bead board at the transition from ceiling to wall can be elegantly hidden by a simple crown molding. A full bead board bathroom may be a little much for some, but I personally think it looks great.
